Northstars shine at Super NIT in Pensacola...........Take USSSA Super NIT Title


The Northstars 13-year-old baseball team from Palm City won championship at the Last Chance Super NIT in Pensacola last weekend.  The Northstars swept through the tournament, winning  five games against teams from Florida, Louisiana, Alabama, and Georgia.

 

The Northstars allowed just 12 runs in five games.  In the team's first game, a 12-0 victory over the Alabama Wildcats, Kevin Fry pitched a complete game shutout, allowing just 2 hits.  In the second game, the Northstars prevailed 11-9 in a game that took four tiebreakers to decide.  Tyler Parker and Matt Readron drove in the tying and winning runs for the Northstars.  In a 6-2 quarter final win against the North Florida Bulls, pitcher Lance Fry threw a complete game, allowing fours hits with 9 strikeouts. Pitcher Brad Rowley tossed a complete game shutout against the Louisiana Giants in the 2-0 semifinal victory. Rowley allowed five hits and struck out nine.  In the championship game, pitchers Justin Bellinger and Scott Husnander limited Legends Baseball to two hits in the 10-1 Northstars’ rout.  Dakotah Radabaugh was 4-for-4 with a home run, double and 4 RBI in the title game.

 

The Super NIT championship puts the Northstars in the USSSA Elite 32 National Championship to be played at Walt Disney World’s Wide World of Sports on August 2-9.  The Northstars are only one of two Florida teams to capture a Super NIT championship this season at the 13U level.
